Snow and Pregnancy

Posted by Amanda Thu, 14 Feb 2008 03:39:00 GMT

It started snowing this afternoon, and by the time Ben left work it was pretty bad. His usual 20 minute commute took him 2 hours!! Luckily Anna was being a very good girl today and we had fun waiting for Daddy to get home. It has stopped snowing now, and it really is nothing compared to Buffalo snow, but it sure messed up the roads at the wrong time of day!

I’m almost 34 weeks pregnant now. I can’t believe it! I’ve been looking back at pictures of me at this point in my pregnancy with Anna, and I can’t believe how well I’m doing. No swelling, I can still fit my wedding rings on (most of the time) and I weigh at least 10 pounds less! Don’t get jealous now – I am definitely dealing with 3rd trimester fatigue and my back REALLY aches by the end of the day.

My sister is getting home from her mission soon, and planning to stay with us for a few weeks in May. It will be perfect timing to bless the baby. My other sister will definitely come as well, and my parents have expressed interest in making the trip. I really hope everyone can make it! It’s crazy fun to have everyone crashing at our house with a newborn!

You know you're a mom when.....

You buy a van:

and you get really excited about a haircut and color:

The opportunity to buy the van just came up, and it was too good to pass up. It may sound silly to own a van with 1 kid and 1 on the way, but compared to our Camry (which we’re selling), it’s bigger, lower miles, same gas mileage, lower monthly payment and lower insurance. Plus, it has leather, and I won’t hit my head when I get the kiddos in and out! And don’t forget about that massive double stroller we’ll have to fit into the back pretty soon.

I’ll end with one of Anna’s favorite phrases:

“Help me now…...PEASE!!”

I guess I'll play along...

A. The rules of the game are posted at the beginning. B. Each player answers the questions about themselves. C. At the end of the post, the player then tags 5 people and posts their names then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

10 years ago…. I was a junior in HS, probably knee-deep in musical rehearsals (Pippin) and AP class homework.

Five things on my to do list today….. wash whites, put away diapers, get Camry’s oil changed, mail valentines, make dinner.

Snacks I enjoy… popcorn, grapefruit, jelly bellies, celery with PB and raisins, yogurt.

If I suddenly became a billionaire… We’d pay off all our debts, invest, fix the yard and Ben would probably end up with some pretty sweet audio equipment.

5 bad habits….. Procrastination, not returning emails, staying up too late, sleeping in, playing on the computer too much.

5 jobs I have had… paper carrier, babysitter, subway, cleaning lady, physical therapist.

5 things most people don’t know about me…. This is hard b/c I am pretty much an open book. Just don’t mention the Wizard of Oz around me.

5 People I tag:

Lisa

Laura

Ben

Jenni

Jessica

Long Time No Post

Posted by Amanda Thu, 06 Sep 2007 04:02:00 GMT

I’m sorry for neglecting this for so long! A lot has happened since Christmas! Anna is now a very active 13 month old girl. She’s been walking for over 2 months, heck, she practically runs now. She has started to talk, her favorite words are “bath” “ball” “maaama” (grandma), “mama/mom/mommy” “keys” and “cheese”. She signs “more” “eat” “please” and “all done”. She’s also learning body parts. She loves her puzzles, shape sorters, finger puppets and stuffed animals, blankets and balls. She also LOVES her bath and swimming in her wading pool. Here are some recent pictures!

This is mid-dance. She spins in a circle until so dizzy she can’t stand up!

Having fun with Uncle Nate when he was here visiting in August.

Opening presents

She needed a little help blowing out her candles.

Having a lot of fun eating her cake!

And in other news…..We’re expecting again! The due date is March 29th, 2008. At this point I’m about 10.5 weeks along. I’m already “showing”, but the sickness hasn’t been nearly as bad as with Anna. I still have hopes that it’ll fade in the next 2 weeks. We went to the doctor 3 weeks ago and saw the baby on ultrasound. So we know for sure there is only one!

The other big thing is that Ben is changing jobs. He will start on Monday. His current company is having trouble making payroll so we felt really good about leaving. I also have stopped working since the last post. I’m still seeing 1 child each week privately, but no more early intervention for now.

Well that’s a pretty good update for now. I’ll try to keep up better!

Anna's 1st Christmas!

Posted by Amanda Fri, 05 Jan 2007 12:11:00 GMT

We had a wonderful Christmas! Thank you to everyone who made it so special. We spent a lot of time with Ben’s family and we also started some of our own traditions. Anna had a wonderful time ripping off wrapping paper and pulling goodies out of her stocking. Here are a few pictures so you can see for yourself:

Anna loves her “Baby’s 1st Christmas” ornament from Great Grandma and Grandpa!

Anna’s opening her puzzle from grandma and grandpa!

Eating a block from Aunt Lizzie!

Her first stocking!

Her cute Christmas outfit from the Woites!

Anna Went to Buffalo!

Posted by Amanda Sat, 23 Dec 2006 13:17:00 GMT

In October we were able to take a trip to Buffalo, NY to see my family. Anna met her great grandparents and other relatives! We had a great time and Anna experienced many new things. We spent a day in Manhattan with Aunt Ruthie and Anna saw the sites while strapped to Mom in a snuggli. She had her first airplane ride, subway ride and bus ride. We also took a road trip from NYC to Buffalo in a rental van to move Aunt Ruthie out of the city. She has since left for an LDS mission in Halifax, Canada. I’ll post one picture of Buffalo, but you’ll have to visit flickr to see the rest!

Anna the Cougar Fan!

Posted by Amanda Sun, 19 Nov 2006 10:54:00 GMT

I finally uploaded my pictures, so I thought I’d share a couple. Of course you can link to the rest of them from this page.

I took some pictures of Anna in her blessing dress. What an angel!

And of course we have to see her smile!

She has found her voice and her toes! She’s also rolling tummy to back and almost back to tummy. Right now she’s fighting sleep so this is all the blog I’m doing.

Anna's Blessing and new Pics!

Posted by Amanda Wed, 20 Sep 2006 09:44:00 GMT

Anna finally met her Grandma and Grandpa Hall, Aunties Liz and Ruthie and Uncle Nate!! They visited us in Utah during the last week of August. It was fun! We blessed Anna while my family was here. Ruthanna got her mission call! She is going to Halifax, CA and leaves Nov 15th! We are planning another family gathering in Buffalo at the end of October before Ruthanna leaves.

Anna is doing very well, shes sleeping about 5-6 hours each night. Of course, some nights are better than others. She has started bringing her hands up to her mouth and holding rings. She smiles all the time, especially when she is getting a new diaper. Cloth diapering is still going well, I highly recommend it! Here are a couple pictures, the rest are on flickr! There’s a link to it a couple posts ago.

Anna is Home!

Posted by Amanda Thu, 10 Aug 2006 06:22:00 GMT

So we’ve been home for about 2 and a half weeks now! Anna is doing great, and Mom and Dad are feeling good too! Just a little sleep deprived:) Anna is such a good baby, she sleeps a lot, and eats VERY SLOWLY. We love playing with her when she’s awake (and when she’s sleeping). She pulls the funniest faces. Tonight we’re taking her for a walk around the neighborhood. Here’s a pic of one of her faces:

The socks are to prevent her from gashing out her eyes – she loves to keep her hands up by her face.
